"Just to be clear—I much prefer working one-on-one with artists to craft the perfect soundscape. BeatStars, for me, is more like a storage unit at this point. Hit me up."

About

I’m SurgeDidTheBeat, a music producer and engineer based in Brisbane, Australia. For over five years, I’ve been crafting beats that blend the soul of early 2000s hip-hop with the polish of today’s sound. I’m deeply inspired by the G-funk era — that West Coast bounce, rich melodies, and smooth grooves — and I aim to bring that nostalgic energy into a modern context.
My studio is a mix of vintage vibes and cutting-edge tech, allowing me to create tracks that feel timeless but hit hard in any era. Whether I’m laying down drums, mixing vocals, or building full productions from scratch, I put everything into making sure each track is sonically on point.
Alongside producing, I offer beat licensing, recording sessions here in Brisbane, and remote mixing and mastering services for artists worldwide. I also run a YouTube series where I break down my process, share new creations, and give you a front-row seat to how the beats come to life.
If you’re looking for that authentic hip-hop feel with a modern edge — you’re in the right place. Let’s build something timeless.
"Beat maker builds the sound, producer brings the vision."

🎛️ Producer
A producer is more like the director of the whole song/project. They can make beats too, but their role often goes beyond that.
What they do:
-
Guide the creative vision of a song or album.
-
Work with artists on performance, lyrics, arrangement.
-
Make decisions about mixing, mastering, and final sound.
-
Coordinate studio sessions and sometimes hire other creatives.
🧠 Think of them as: the boss of the entire music-making process.

🔊 Beat Maker
A beat maker is primarily focused on creating instrumentals — the beat — usually using software like Studio One, MPC, FL Studio, Ableton, Logic, etc.
What they do:
-
Make loops, drum patterns, melodies, etc.
-
Work mostly with samples, synths, and virtual instruments.
-
Create beats that rappers or singers can use.
-
Often sell or lease beats online.
🧠 Think of them as: the architect of the sound foundation.
